Professional > WREA is a professional organization which protects the interests of retired teachers, administrators and educational workers.
Independent > WREA acts independently and quickly on issues of concern to retirees. Though affiliated with the National Retired Teachers Association (NRTA), AARP's Educator Community, WREA determines its own course of action. WREA is not connected to the teachers' unions.
Focused > WREA puts RETIREES FIRST in regard to pension issues and the long term impact on the pension fund.
Non-partisan > WREA is active on legislative issues but does not endorse candidates or support PACs. WREA supports issues rather than politics.
Reliable > WREA took a lead role in protecting retiree interests by challenging the 1987 raid on our pension fund. That litigation was resolved in 1997, and WREA was the only annuitant group that fought to keep attorney fees low, resulting in a greater return to retirees. WREA continues to monitor the pension fund. |
